The Problem

Fishing relies on inconsistent tracking and gut instinct. Most tools are manual, fragmented, and don’t turn data into meaningful, personalized insights.

Strategic Approach

I designed an experience that makes tracking effortless while quietly capturing high-value data. This fuels a system where user input continuously improves predictive insights—creating a self-sustaining loop of value and engagement.

Fish the Conditions, Not Just the Water

The weather tool in Catch Journal surfaces the environmental factors that matter most—wind, barometric pressure, and localized forecasts—directly within the catch experience. Instead of checking multiple sources, anglers get real-time, context-aware insights that help them understand how conditions impact fish behavior. By connecting weather patterns to past catches, the app turns raw conditions into actionable signals for when and where to fish next.

Log a Catch in Seconds, Learn From It Forever

The catch logging experience is designed to be fast, intuitive, and built for real conditions on the water. Users can quickly capture a catch by adding photos, selecting species, logging size, and confirming location, while seamlessly inputting details like lake conditions, presentation, and solunar factors. What feels like a simple entry point is actually a powerful data capture system—turning each catch into structured insight that fuels smarter, more informed fishing over time.
